Starbucks Double Chocolate Chip Frappucino recipe - easy fix with not much coffee taste?
HisKeiki asked:
Ok, i’ve googled and googled for this! I’ve found alot of different sites, but no luck with recipes i’ve tried. Most of them have the ‘4 cups(something like that) of strong coffee?!! Now, the Starbuck’s double chocolate chip frappucino I drink is NOTHING like that! I can’t even taste the coffee in theirs. I used this recipe(from gourmet sleuth i believe) and it tasted awful. Waaayyyyy too much coffee flavor, and even with adding the extra choc syrup(hershey’s btw) it didn’t taste right. Also, the chocolate chips it said to use just got stuck in the blender…. the recipe called for no milk, but i believe you put that in it as well(tried a little the second time i made it, the girl that worked at starbucks said so also).
I do not know where to buy espresso, and starbucks doesnt sell it anymore. Just used the instant coffee stuff, but bleh!!!!
Any ideas on this?

first frappuccinos are like lattes but without steaming milk. you need espresso. although you don’t taste the coffee because it’s light you need the espresso. to make espresso you need espresso beans and an espresso maker. however i suppose you can always use coffee instead and i do suggest brewed coffee since there is a big difference between that and instant. in a blender mix the coffee about 2 tablespoon worth with a ice and enough milk to fill your cup 2/3 the way. i’m assuming they use a chocolate syrup so add about 4 tablespoon of chocolate syrup. blend and pour into your glass. stir in mini chocolate chips. tollhouse makes them. smaller then regular chips. i don’t suggest adding that to the blender since i can’t think of a way to make it not stick to the blade.
Double Chocolate Chip has NO coffee or espresso in it at all. For a grande, it’s cream base (which is made of a lot of weird stuff, including milk), three pumps of mocha syrup, and three teaspoon-sized scoops of chocolate chips blended with ice. I don’t know what Starbucks you’re going to, but the store I work at, as well as every other store I’ve ever been to, sells it. There are dozens of drinks that we still make that are not on the menu, just ask! If you still want to try it at home, I’d try making like a vanilla or chocolate milkshake in the blender and throwing some chocolate chips or even brownie bits in there. Yum!
Also, to set the record straight, none of the Frappuccinos are made with actual milk, coffee, or espresso (except the Espresso Frappuccino). They are made with a pre-made base that is equivalent to a double-strength coffee that has been formulated to blend smoother and separate slower than a blended latte.
