Coffee or tea?

Kat Woman asked:

For our favors we are having insulated bags with a liter of fresh milk, a liter of orange juice, some jam, Devon cream, butters, granola, honey, a few scones, a muffin and piece of coffee cake. Its supposed to be a complete set for breakfast the next morning the main part of it (and only bit that wont be thrown out) is the coffee or tea we would be getting either

1. filled with three different metal tins of different types of gourmet coffee from our favorite gourmet store in the city and some raw sugar nibs

or

2. (you put it in the microwave with water and then add tea and let it brew, you then place it on the cup and it pours out) filled with 2 flavors of tea tins, sugar nibs from our favorite loose tea seller

Which would your prefer to receive?

*we have nut free, dairy free, and gluten free bags being made for guests with special needs*
Also is there any component I am missing for breakfast?

I feel like I am missing a little something…
B2B yes that was very much part of the reason.

Also we want to encourage guests to stay as late as they can and not worry about the morning. The only problem with 50% or 50% is what if out of 250 people 200 choose tea and then I have 75 coffee left?

We are making 325 just in case and letting the wait staff take the extras
Also I am getting a good deal on them *they are normally 20 each ?!?!?!* for ordering so many haha
They are pre made bags that are being kept in a fridge and given by the elevator attendant (there is only one way out of the reception down the private elevator)

The milk and all would spoil I assumed and even though they are insulated I wanted to make they will be nice and chilly for the ride home (even though all our guests live within an hour away)

The bar would be great, but I just don’t think we could do it.

BUT YOGURT IS GREAT. I will look around for some local organic makers.
I am in NYC actually. I grew up in europe and went to finishing school in the UK

I would prefer coffee since that is what I drink. I think you have it all covered!

Why don’t you have both, buy 50% coffee and 50% tea. that way everyone gets to pick what they like, i persoanly don’t drink coffee so i would grab a bag with tea in it. i think your favor idea is great i’m gonna borrow it lol. Since i’m having so many out of town guess.

i would say go with both coffee and tea…some people don’t like coffee and some do…

I perfer coffee, but tea is also a good choice.

    Both coffee and Tea.

Why to confine with either of them?

Make it great by offering the choice of both.

I love both coffee and tea as do most people I know. However folks like my father can’t stand coffee and there’s nothing wrong with that. Is it possible to include both if you can afford it? Otherwise stick with tea.

I like the idea of doing half and half, and giving people a choice between coffee and tea. I think your favors sound very thoughtful and lux, but honestly the only things I eat for breakfast are either fruit parfaits or egg & sausage biscuits. All of those breads and pastries would go to waste on me. If you want to include something else, I would suggest adding one of those. Obviously you don’t need to give everyone both, so maybe you could set up a breakfast bar and let people choose what they want to take with. Good luck!

Based on your terminology being used, I am guessing you are not in the US (I’ve never heard of “Devon cream” or “butters” - - what is that?).
If that is the case, I thought folks overseas prefer tea to coffee. Honestly, I like both so I would make due with whichever I got. So I would lean you towards tea. Most people who like coffee also drink tea, in my experience. Where tea drinkers may not be coffee drinkers.
So, my vote goes for tea.

Coffee, and here’s my reasoning: if someone really, really wanted tea they could make it in a push press pot like you’re showing for the coffee, but you can’t make coffee in the teapot (does that make sense?).

But in America, I think coffee would be the overwhelming favorite for breakfast drink, and would please the most people. Those who don’t drink coffee are used to it being offered everywhere.

I think it’s a lovely gesture to extend to your guests either way!

I don’t drink coffee so it would be given away if that’s what I got. I prefer tea and honestly I think more people drink tea than coffee… But that’s just me. Also, I would suggest doing a half-litre instead of full litre of juice and milk. I would end up throwing most of that out and I assume most others would as well.

I also assume you aren’t in the US. I think in the US, most people drink coffee and not tea. (When I’ve travelled there I always have to order “hot tea” or I end up with iced tea!) At least here, almost everyone likes tea - I don’t know anyone who won’t or doesn’t drink it. While coffee is still popular, not everyone drinks it. So I just think tea would please the most people.

But again, if you aren’t in the US (devon cream is mostly known in Canada and the UK) then you’re probably going to get answers here suited to an American guest list and not to a more British guest list. Just my assumption!

I am a coffee drinker and i would actually prefer to recieve tea. Coffee drinkers have a tendency to be very picky about what they drink. Tea is all about the same. I would go for the tea and that way no one will worry about whether they want coffee or tea.

I drink tea and coffee, but I would prefer the coffee.

  13. theMrs. on July 17th, 2009 7:00 pm

I’m more of a coffee drinker, so I’d prefer that. But, if you are having difficulty deciding, just try to think about what is most common/popular in your area and with the people in your circle.

You could get the guests to RSVP their choice and then name each favour bag so then they get what they want.
Personally I would choose tea as I don’t really drink coffee.
